Psst. Hey Dads. Guess what? Mother’s Day is coming. That’s right - it’s Sunday, May 13. Yes, we know - it’s less than a week away. Yes, it is just around the corner.
Mark your calendars and grab a notepad and pen because we realize we’ve probably just sent you into a cold sweat and we didn’t mean to. We just want to help you make this year one your partner will remember, in a good way.
Now, while Mother’s Day didn’t become an official holiday until 1914, we believe it was well overdue as an opportunity to celebrate everything our moms do during the other 364 days of the year.
Moms get up early and stay up late. They are short-order cooks, preparers of healthy school lunches, signer of notes, chaperones of field trips, soother of scrapes, and washer-folder of clothes.
They are cleaners of houses, teachers of math, champions of rescued creatures, fashion consultants, baker of cookies, audience for bad jokes, and shoulders to cry on.
For all of these things and more, you might be thinking a homemade breakfast, some hand-picked flowers, and an arts and crafts project are the perfect, endearing gifts.
You’d be half right.
Breakfast in bed is only a good idea if you really, really know you and the kids will need absolutely no help whatsoever from Mom, that you will be able to do it quietly, and that you will leave the kitchen cleaner than when you started.
Flowers from the yard are great. Just don’t pick every single bloom from the rose bush and don’t trample the iris that are just beginning to emerge (they aren’t weeds!).
Homemade gifts are so appreciated - they’ll definitely be saved and cried over many years later. But for the love of God, please don’t let them use glitter.
Actually, if you really want to hit the nail on the head, we suggest you think about this fact. Moms overwhelmingly say the number one gift they want for Mother’s Day is sleep. Glorious, glorious sleep.
And they want to do it in a really, really good bed. Not one that’s lumpy, with a dip in the middle from little people and dogs overtaking it in the middle of the night. Not one that wakes her up every time someone rolls over, and not one that’s been around since 1995.
A Zonkd mattress - a premium gel Memory Foam creation with three different firmness options, and a dual-layer cooling system - that’s the gift! OR with one of our uniquely squishy and butter soft pillows! Use the code MOM18 at checkout and you'll receive 25% off!
Do all of those other things you’re thinking of, but also, Go to the Mattresses! (a little Godfather reference here - couldn’t resist).
Seriously, order it now, have it delivered the day before, throw on some luxurious new sheets, and give her the best night’s sleep she’s had in years. She will thank you for it. There’s even a good chance she’ll be a lot more forgiving when she sees the glitter because admit it, you know you forgot.
