If you’ve ever watched old episodes of tv shows from the 1950’s, like “I Love Lucy” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” you may have noticed something interesting … the married couples all slept in twin beds! Television censors from that era wouldn’t allow couples to be shown in a double or queen bed together - it was too salacious!
Fast forward to 2018 and times have certainly changed, but if you’re sharing a lumpy, dippy, old-technology bed with your significant other, you may be thinking the idea of twin beds is kind of appealing.
Your sleep experts at Zonkd have three words to say to this idea: “No, No, and NO! That’s because we know there’s a much better solution for getting a good night’s sleep when you’re sharing a bed and it’s … a Zonkd mattress.
Sleepolopolis and Mattress Advisor both recently reviewed Zonkd’s premium hybrid copper gel infused memory foam mattress and gave our sleep system excellent marks for co-sleeping comfort. Here’s why:
Less Motion Transfer
Perhaps the most important test for couple sleep ability is how much movement one person feels when the second person in a bed moves. A poor mattress can lead to tossing and turning through the night and very poor sleep for both people in the bed. Add kids or pets to the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster.
When Sleepopolis reviewed Zonkd, they found our mattress offered “really amazing motion transfer results.” And the reviewers at Mattress Advisor agreed. They tested motion transfer by putting people in the bed and asking them their thoughts. They also upped the ante by putting a glass of red wine on the bed and adding a human to the other side. The results? The people were happy and nary a drop of wine was spilled!
A mattress under any circumstances should offer enough support and firmness to keep the spine in an neutral position but leave your body feeling comfy and pampered. This is especially important when two people are using the bed - the mattress needs to support two bodies as well as it supports one.
Both Sleepopolis and Mattress Advisor attributed the use of premium Talalay latex foam as a key contributor to Zonkd’s ability to provide an excellent combination of firmness and comfort. Our mattress offered solid firmness and support, falling right in the middle on a scale from 1 to 10. Sleepopolis said there’s a “nice interplay between pressure relief and support,” and Mattress Advisor gave us an 8.25 and 8.75 out of 10 respectively for pressure relief and spine alignment.
Zonkd Keeps Things Cool
Who hasn’t been in bed with their significant other and found themselves throwing off mounds of covers because the other person’s core temperature is about 30 degrees cooler? Add the tendency of traditional memory foam to trap heat to this scenario and you’re just asking for a miserable night’s sleep.
That’s why Zonkd has gone to great lengths in designing a memory foam mattress with copper gel that actually conducts excess heat away from your body for a cool, comfortable sleep no matter how many covers your partner buries themselves under. A breathable, washable cover completes the cooling system.
Sleepopolis and Mattress Advisor both agreed. Sleepopolis found that our mattress sleeps cool through the night and Mattress Advisor rated the cooling abilities at an 8.5 out of 10 for airflow, breathability, and overall cooling.
What a relief to know that a good night’s sleep doesn’t mean we’re relegated to sleeping alone, colorless, in a skinny twin bed, like poor Lucy and Ricky Ricardo or Laura and Rob Petrie. With the futuristic technology of Zonkd’s premium sleep mattress, it’s not only a possibility to comfortably share a bed with someone and still get a good night’s sleep. It’s a reality!
